Great excitement at The British Legion Club as Meir Chess Club take on Stafford in the Final of the Under 130 Trophy.
Despite being heavily out graded on Boards 2 and 5 both Peter Windows and Eddie Burke were able to achieve creditable draws.
On Board 1 Clive Ferry managed Meir's only but, in the final analysis ,crucial win!
Two Boards were still playing up to the wire. Tom Healey also drew on Board 3 but Dave Fuller, after an heroic battle, went down on Board 4.
The final result was a 2.5 / 2.5 Draw over the boards but the win on top board sealed the victory and the Under 130 Cup for Meir.
